My husband is such a Star Wars fanatic, therefore, we almost named our son Skywalker. I have agreed to that since there were pre-existing conditions about who decides the name before I went under for the Caesarean delivery, but I got shocked having woken up learning that he’s registered him on a name that he thought I preferred more. I actually liked Skywalker better. I just did not anticipate that he would be forced by the Hospital to register our son’s name before I have even woken up. Anyhow, that’s all in the past.
The cinema: So it’s a no brainer that we’ll have to watch the movie upon its showing in Riyadh. We chose to watch in Riyadh front, VOX Cinama Gold. We did not want anything fancy, we just need to watch on a cinema with leather seats. That’s basically the only requirement. We didn’t know that we have chosen something fancy. We thought that the cost is a bit expensive due to the newness of the place, Riyadh Front being hyped and associated with Riyadh Season. What we did not know is that Gold has recliner seats with blanket and pillow. It was super spacious that I had to semi-raise my voice when I wanted to speak with my husband. It was an awesome experience.
We spent 140 SAR per ticket which is way cheaper compared to the other option, Gold VIP – 270 SAR? (I could be wrong). VIP Gold included food and beverages, while in ours (regular Gold), did not. However, we only spent 150 SAR on food so technically, ours was still cheaper than that of the VIP, we still got the better deal.
The movie: Despite the bashers, I find it good and well-executed. I had to watch the Last Jedi the night before seeing this movie to get a better sense of the story. I am not an uber fan so I really had to do my homework before watching this one because I was warned by my husband about me and my incessant stupid questions. I cried three times (seriously) and it was so embarrassing. I haven’t felt this kind of intensity since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I somehow felt like this during End Game (semi) but the thrill I had in there was a quick one so yeah, not quite the same. This is very much reminiscent of how I felt in HP&TDH! Plus, I have seen some familiar faces with bit roles so it was more fun because I get to interject their names (and from where I’ve seen them) while my husband is in too deep. I felt like my husband wanted me thrown out of the movie house.
It was an awesome experience, overall because the comfort of the cinema complemented my having the flu. PLUS, we watched @ 9:00 am so it was predicted to be a major snooze fez (on my part) had in not been for the combination of good food, good theater and good movie.
