In response to Fandango’s provocative question # 86:
I have dreamt of my one-armed sister. This was last week, super recent and quite strange. I suppose this could be one of the strangest coherent dreams I have. Most of my dreams do not make sense at all.
In the dream, we were on a van and Joy, my younger sister was wearing her civil wedding dress. Her civil wedding was in 2017 so I really didn’t understand why the memory. She was doing her makeup on the moving vehicle and is having the hardest time putting it on while looking at the mirror on her lap. She was complaining loudly because she kept messing up as she was trying to put the eyeliner on and in the dream, I wanted to yell like, “why don’t you hold the mirror.”
Then I looked at her and saw that she only had one arm. I was super shocked!
Our mom and our youngest sister, Faith seemed not a bit surprised though. They were acting as if Joy’s had one arm all her life. I was thinking, “why are they not helping her?” I mean, one or two arms, it’s strange that no one’s helping her since it’s her wedding day, although civil, it’s still her day (we couldn’t have known in the dream that she will have a big wedding a year after). It’s weird that Faith who was seated beside Joy wasn’t assisting, because we do help each other, weddings or not.
My heart was melting and I thought I was going to cry. I don’t know if I was crying in the dream or in reality. I felt so bad because she only had an arm.
I believe what triggered the dream is the incessant ranting of my husband about my not watching Twin Peaks with him. I didn’t want to watch because I have seen that before (when I was young) and I didn’t like it.
One of the things I remembered in Twin Peaks is the one-armed man and that everything seemed wooden. The soundtrack didn’t appeal to me either. But my husband won’t start it until I agreed to watch it with him. His viewing category these days is: TV Shows with Cult Following and of course, he had to insist on this. I was thinking hard whether I’d agree or not because if I will agree to this, I could get bored and do other things (like play the Switch while watching) and he’d be pretty upset because my husband watches movies/tv as if he’s a member of The Academy. So watching with him meant committing my full time and attention on such a very wooden theme.
As to why my sister, I mean of all people, why dream of her?! Probably because I’ve always admired her being able to perfectly apply makeup while on a moving vehicle? It could be tricky as to why her, but that reason should suffice for now.

Have a great day!
Perhaps, Janis next time, say to hubby โokay, I will watch one of your shows, if you will watch one of mineโ ๐ and then track down a South Korean drama like Crash Landing on You (which is fabulous show) or Itโs Okay To Not Be Okay (which is also great), but has some darker fairy tale aspects to it.
I do have strange dreams regularly, which I can never remember, but I did have one nightmare based on a tv show that repeated itself for many years from when I was a child until about ten years ago.
These things are always interesting ๐

If that’s the condition, I’d be freed from Twin Peaks in a snap (for sure!) I have seen Crash Landing (due to my mom’s influence – she had to talk to somebody about it, so yeah)
I am amazed that you’re watching Kdramas โค Did Linda ask you to watch with her? Or was it on your very own playlist ๐
About your nightmare: What TV show was that? Why do you think it stopped?

No, Kdramas were my very own discovery. We watch many shows together, but I was working away from home a lot until last Christmas, so thatโs how the Kdramas came about.
The best Kdrama for me this year is โInto The Ring.โ Absolutely blew me away how wonderful it was.
It was Doctor Who actually. Iโm not sure why the nightmare stopped. It might have been after I told Linda about it the last time it happened and how every few years this nightmare would occur.

Amazing! Full respect on men who enjoy Kdramas!!!
That’s a good addition to your bio:
Sean is a Kdrama loving consultant, local government specialist …………………….. and a sci-fi fan… ๐
I especially love Reply 1988. Have you watched that? It is quite reminiscent of our childhood in the Philippines…
I haven’t seen Into the Ring yet… I will look for it once we finish this Twin Peaks scenario ๐
I bet there are lots of nightmares caused by Doctor Who. It’s good you were able to get rid of that somehow ๐

That you, Janis – I am going to add Kdrama loving consultant to my bio!
No, I haven’t watched Reply 1988 (or the others) yet. I do keep thinking I must, though.
I am watching Flower of Evil at the moment. It is getting big raves, but I am only so so about it. Alice is quite interesting. I think I will take a look at Lies on Lies as it sounds interesting. My all time favourite though is My Mister (My Ahjussi).
For the record, I did enjoy the original Twin Peaks. But, there were no nightmares for me from it, although, when I think back, I do recall having one or two dreams about it and solving the big mystery!

My Mister! I havenโt seen that my mom has and she kept talking about it …
To be fair, Twin Peaks is an established favorite by the majority… itโs only I who had problems with certain shows/movies with similar vibes…
We watched several episodes last night, we havenโt got a clue who did it… have you solved it in your dreams?

My Mister is in my top three favourite shows of all time, from anywhere ๐
With Twin Peaks, I did work it out first and then I dreamt about it. Iโm not sure why it was so vivid in my dreams either ๐คฃ

I may start watching it sooner…

That was a weird dream. I remember watching Twin Peaks when it first came out. It was a fascinating, but very weird show. I donโt think Iโd bother watching it again.
